7 blogging benefits for businesses

Though blogging has many advantages that may benefit individuals, the focus of this article will be on 7 blogging benefits for a businesses. Normally business websites are made up of static pages and very little content is periodically added to it. Blog sites on the other hand, are regularly extended with new pages and updated with new content. The ideal for businesses is to combine static and blog pages and thereby benefit from both. More details on why it is sensible to add a blog section to your business website is discussed below.

7 blogging benefits for businesses | My Business Why

1. Search engine optimization.

Any network marketer will tell you that content is king for S.E.O.
It is imperative that the blog section is hosted on the website of your business. Search engines are constantly crawling websites, looking for fresh content. Blogging is the best form of putting content out as “bait” for the search engines.

The more content that is added on a business website, the more pages will get indexed by the robots. This in turn will increase the organic search visibility and eventually traffic (visitors) to the website. The more pages your business website has, the better the keyword exposure will be and the greater the chance of landing organic visitors to your business website.

2. Social media support.

It will be best to share in-house, content on social media platforms about your business, rather than sharing posts and content from other generic sources. When you want to maintain a social media presence of quality, you will need a source of quality content to share. Blog posts are the ideal source to use. Different snippets from the same post may serve as a source when creating a constant flow of quality content in social media posts on business profiles.

3. The human side of business.

Business websites normally consist of static pages. The closest it comes to customer interaction is with an order form or a contact page.
The blog section of a business website can however be crafted that it touches on the human side of business. It may address issues and concerns of your customers and it may showcase the knowledge, skills and expertise of the people involved in the business. Customer interaction in the comment section can greatly contribute to closing sales.

4. Authority in the industry.

Like with individuals, when publications on a business blog are relevant, informative, accurate and published consistently, it will draw the attention as business people being knowledgeable in a specific field. Industry related topics can be discussed and the business will become known as a destination of expertise.

5. Activity creates business.

When your business blog is active, it signals that the business is active, cared for and well maintained. It is better for businesses to add short, but quality content on a regular base than making one huge blog post once a few months. Activity, combined with relevance and quality is key and it will establish trust that will lead to sales.

6. Inexpensive advertising.

Blogging takes time and time is money. Blogging however has the benefit that it gains an increasing presence in cyberspace over a period of time. Businesses that constantly adds to their blog section on their websites has the benefit of increasing generic traffic to their business websites. Such traffic may grow exponentially with exposure over time and eventually become a very inexpensive source of advertising.

7. Expand F.A.Q. section.

Frequently asked questions is always a source of valuable information that businesses can provide to their customers. The best source for getting information as to what FAQ’s your business customers may have, is obviously the customers themselves. Questions and issues that are raised and discussed in the blog section are an ideal source for expanding the FAQ section on your website.

Thanks for this informative article. Didn’t know the importance of blogging on business websites. Can you please explain “short, but quality blog post” in more detail? What lenght would be sufficient?

      Hi Felix,
Thanks for your comment. I’m glad that you found this informative.
My take on post lengths are as follows.
A regular post will be between 750 and 1500 words.
A short post will be between around 500, but less than 750 words.
Please note, this is my opinion and not a hard and fast rule.
Quality is quality. Avoid milling around with words and ideas.
Put out a skeleton of what the message is that you want to convey and then add some flesh with words yo it.
      Cheers

Hi and thanks for sharing this information. I was more or less aware of the fact that blogging could help my business but as for now, I didn’t do much of it.

I now see the urgency of starting to spread the word with the help of my website. I only have product pages so far and have observed that the pages are not ranking well with Google.
